Sonic Escape’s Celtic With a Twist Concert

Sonic Escape’s Celtic With a Twist Concert

Saturday, March 30, 2019 - 19:30

Welland Port Colborne Concert Association’s Last Concert of the Season

Sonic Escape’s Celtic With a Twist will close out the season for WPCCA on Saturday, March 30th, 7:30 PM at the Dr JM Ennis Auditorium, Centennial Secondary School.   Maria Millar and Shawn Wyckoff will take your breath away as they transform the flute & violin into a Celtic symphony of sounds- you have to see it to believe it!  Hear your favourites as if for the first time.

Celtic with a Twist combines the tunes you love with flute & violin playing like you’ve never heard (or seen) before! Juilliard graduates Shawn Wyckoff and Maria Millar have soloed at Lincoln Center, The Kennedy Center and Carnegie Hall. Their double-lives as Celtic musicians, however, have taken them down an entirely different path: Maria has toured the world as the dancing fiddler in Riverdance, and Shawn’s been spotted skiing, rollerblading and dancing across stages while playing Ireland’s most beloved jigs & reels.

Celtic with a Twist unites classical virtuosity with Celtic groove, featuring singalong favorites “Danny Boy” and “When Irish Eyes Are Smiling,” Bach woven into hyper-instrumental renditions of trad tunes “Rocky Road to Dublin” and Riverdance’s “Mason’s Apron,” audience-driven improvisation, and fiddle-inspired American classics such as “Chicken Reel.” Maria and Shawn take your breathaway as they transform the flute & violin into a Celtic symphony of sounds – you have to see it to believe it! Hear your favourites as though for the very first time; experience Celtic with a Twist.

NEW SERIES- The 2019- 2020 season will be unveiled  at this concert.  Brochures, available at this concert, will outline renewal dates and procedures and showcase the Concert Lineup for 2019-2020.
