Over 500+ Riders Registered for the first time in Big Move Cancer Ride history

-Over $210,000 raised pre-event (large portion of fundraising happens day of event and for the months following the event)

-We have launched a FAMILY RIDE for the first time (15K, no hills, very recreational)

-We have nearly 2,500 online donations made, pre-event

-We have 200+ volunteers

-We have raised over $3,700,000 since 2009 for LOCAL Cancer Patient Care

-All proceeds go to support the Walker Family Cancer Centre of Niagara Health.

“Record Number of Riders Set To Participate in The Big Move Cancer Ride”

  •   Niagara Health Foundation’s Annual Big Move Cancer Ride is in support of the Walker Family Cancer Centre.

  •   The Ride is a grown-in-Niagara, non-competitive cycling event – ANYONE can participate

  •   The event has a new venue this year: White Meadows Farm, 2519 Effingham Street, St. Catharines

o That means no more hill!

  •   Routes this year include the 25km, 50km and 75km course PLUS a brand new family ride that is a

    shorter and slower ride (approximately 12 km)

  •   Riders of all abilities and ages will enjoy weaving through scenic Niagara Region for a great cause.

  •   If you don’t think you can ride, consider volunteering at the Big Move – 300 volunteers are needed to

    help run the event!

  •   Participants are asked to collect pledges in support of the Walker Family Cancer Centre. The fundraising

    goal this year is $300,000!

    Big Move by the Numbers

o Over 500 Riders for the first time in The Big Move Cancer Rides 11 Year history
o Over 40 “teams” registered to ride to together
o Nearly 3,000 online donations made before the event
o Since the inaugural event in September 2009 over $3.7 million has been raised for the Walker

Family Cancer Centre
o Nearly 4,400 cyclists and 2,300 volunteers have participated in the event

Walker Family Cancer Centre – Where the dollars go!

  •   Proceeds from the Big Move Cancer Ride stay in Niagara and support the equipment needs of theWalker Family Cancer Centre, located at Niagara Health’s St. Catharines Site

  •   The regional Cancer Centre provides radiation and chemotherapy treatments, other systemic therapies, surgical oncology consultation, psychosocial support, and palliative care.

o This means our cancer patients can receive their chemotherapy and radiation treatment in the Niagara region, keeping them close-to-home.

  •   More than 7,500 patients receive care at the centre annually

  •   Last year, the centre saw over 75,000 cancer patient visits
