Last winter, Niagara felt the effects of a few days with stronger-than-usual winds. One previous client called the Miller Restoration office to seek help assessing damage to his pool shed – damaged by strong winds, the shed no longer had doors, leaving stored equipment vulnerable to the elements.

With the annual cost of household living expenses for a Niagara region family of four conservatively pegged at over $73,000, the Niagara Poverty Reduction Network (NPRN) has calculated the hourly wage necessary to meet these expenses, otherwise known as a living wage, to be $18.12 for 2019.

34th Saskatoon Sport Hall of Fame Induction dinner was held Saturday November 2nd, 2019. Among those recognized was Pelham Resident, Terry Lehne. Terry Lehne played in the CFL from 1983 to 1988 with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, Montreal Concordes, Toronto Argonauts and Ottawa Rough Riders. During his football career he played in three Grey Cup games between 1984 and 1986.

For those of us who weren’t born and raised in a rural community, soil is often regarded simply as mud or dirt. The rise of urbanization and the rural-urban divide has led to a disconnect between humans and nature, and, especially, between humans and agricultural settings. Yoga for Peace is a group fitness class experience that is being offered in 6 locations across Niagara as part of YMCA Peace Week. Yoga is an innately peaceful activity. The goal of yoga is to encompass the overall essence of peace and incorporate spirit, mind and body into each class.

Yoga for Peace is open to all community members, no previous yoga experience is necessary. Yoga for Peace is designed for participants 13 years of age and older. Please bring your own yoga mat and water bottle.

Pelham residents had their say during the Oct. 22 public meeting under the Planning Act regarding amendments to the Official Plan and Zoning By-law to include policies and regulations with respect to short term accommodations within the Town.
