We are excited to announce the appointment of Mark Holmes as our new Business Development Associate. Since 1997, the lacrosse organization has operated under the guise of the Welland Raiders. This will soon change with the opening of the Meridian Community Centre in Fonthill as the players return home to Pelham, once again adopting the name the Pelham Raiders.

And Summerfest would like to help you help yourself.  We have many volunteer roles available throughout the festival weekend from greeting guests at the gates to manning the bike valet.

Last week at E.L. Crossley Secondary School, members of the Rotary Club of Fonthill joined current and former staff, along with students, community and family members for a special tree planting.

A couple of weeks ago, Bill Gibson, Chair of Pelham’s Meridian Community Centre Oversight Committee, presented another upbeat update to Council. You will recall that Council listened to suggestions from the public for proper project supervision by establishing Community Centre Oversight Committee two years ago. The committee includes two community members (Gibson and Bill Sheldon), one Council rep (Councillor Accursi), and the Chief Administrative Officer (Darren Ottaway). This committee works to ensure that the Town receives value-for-money in every aspect of the project and that the project gets delivered on time and on budget, and to provide the community with consistent and timely updates.

With deep roots in the Niagara Region, Young Sod Farms is beginning their 60th year in business! Robert Young and his wife Shirley started the business in 1958 and their legacy is now seeing involvement from the 3rdgeneration. The Town of Pelham, working with its Pelham Active Transportation Committee, recently secured more than $65,000 in provincial funding to promote commuter cycling, safe cycling education and road safety for pedestrians and cyclists. In December 2017, Pelham was one of 120 communities in Ontario to receive funding for cycling infrastructure. Pelham received $60,000.
