The Niagara Association of REALTORS® (NAR) reported 603 property sales processed through the NAR Multiple Listing Service (MLS®) system in March. This represents an increase of 14.2% in sales over March of last year. The residential average sale price of $261,279 was 5.2% higher than last March.

The Niagara Youth Orchestra is celebrating its 50th anniversary!  Founded in 1965 by local music teacher, Paul van Dongen, the orchestra has been the premiere training ground for local young musicians for five decades. Famed Canadian jazz pianist Michael Kaeshammer will headline the Niagara Jazz Festival’s 2015 Flagship event Friday, July 24th at Jackson-Triggs Winery in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario. The Festival’s second year will be held July 23-26, 2015.

With two weeks to go in CAA’s Worst Roads Campaign, Niagara’s road users have put Dominion Road in Fort Erie in the region’s top spot and eighth in Ontario. Last year, the thoroughfare was voted the second worst road in all of the Niagara Region. The campaign began on March 23 with voters visiting to submit their choice for the worst road in Niagara.

In 1945, life in Pelham was significantly different than it is now, 65 years later. But one thing has remained true throughout those 65 years, the service of the Fonthill Lions Club.

The Fonthill Lions Club started with 24 members in 1945, receiving its charter on April 3, thanks to sponsorship from the Welland Lions Club.
