This week the Foundation celebrates 15 years of working with amazing volunteers, donors, charities and staff to build and support smart and carry communities. We've seen the impact of our grants grow from $6,500 in 2001 to more than $1.11 million in 2014. These grants support charities in all sectors in all communities across Niagara. And we've seen our endowment funds grow from $200,000 in 2000 to more than $28 million this month. Donors from all walks of life and from coast to coast to coast here in Niagara have supported our work.
5 Fenwick teams will be participating in the Fenwick Purina® Walk for Dog Guides on May 24, 2015 to help raise funds for the training and placement of Dog Guides for Canadians with visual, hearing and medical or physical disabilities.
Registration is open now for 6 different camps for ages 5 to 13 offered by Carousel Players. Theatre classes are led by professionals and take place at the Old Courthouse, 101 King Street, 2nd Floor in downtown St. Catharines beside Market Square.

Imagine being an archer in flight, controlling your arrows through a magical medieval setting; or fending off waves of enemies in a trapped western city of Copper Canyon. These are just two original student-created games that will be on display at Niagara College’s second annual Game Development Launch April 16.

The Niagara Association of REALTORS® (NAR) reported 603 property sales processed through the NAR Multiple Listing Service (MLS®) system in March. This represents an increase of 14.2% in sales over March of last year. The residential average sale price of $261,279 was 5.2% higher than last March.

Habitat for Humanity Niagara’s Women Build promotes the involvement of women in the construction of Habitat homes by hosting build projects with the majority of the planning and execution undertaken by women volunteers. Women Build is not about excluding men but it is all about including women!
The Niagara Youth Orchestra is celebrating its 50th anniversary! Founded in 1965 by local music teacher, Paul van Dongen, the orchestra has been the premiere training ground for local young musicians for five decades. Anniversary Celebrations take place May 30 and 31, culminating with a commemorative concert on May 31st.
This past week the Best Western Rose City Suites hosted an Open House welcoming the community to help them celebrate '25 wonderful years of hospitality'. Members of the Welland/Pelham Chamber of Commerce joined in the festivities with a Business After 5 gathering that included a tour of the facilities and lots of conversation over a fine buffet of appetizers served up by local restaurant, The Blue Star.
The Town of Pelham received a provincial Community Transportation Pilot Grant to help improve community transportation services for seniors, youth, persons living with disabilities, and other members of the community who need transportation.
