Canada Health Day, May 12th, commemorates the birthday of Florence Nightingale known for her commitment to improve the health and welfare of all people. This day gives us an opportunity to express our gratitude to all staff and volunteers who provide excellent care and compassion to all those we serve at Hotel Dieu Shaver.

On Thursday, May 21st, the Pelham Farmers Market participated in the Kids Can Grow Program when each child planted a sunflower seed to take home and grow. The flowers will be returned on September 17th to be judged in several categories. There were 75 children who participated ranging in age from 9 months to 12 years. Pictured above is Lola and Will Cottingham after planting the seeds.

If you're an investor, you know the impact that volatility can have on your portfolio. During the May 4, 2015 meeting, Council requested that staff consult with the Town's Insurer and Legal Counsel to advise how the Town's liability is impacted during Bandshell Concerts that occur in an unlicensed area of Peace Park where alcohol is known to be consumed. Both the Town's Insurer and Legal Counsel opined that since the Town is aware of these facts it has a responsibility to take proactive steps to ensure compliance with applicable laws and by-laws to help reduce liability.

For clients of oncology massage we carefully look at the health history form and create a treatment plan in which we modify the clients treatment around. A few examples are bone & vital organ involvement and lymph node removal. The treatment goals are usually to decrease fatigue, pain, nausea and create a calmness to allow clients to sleep better.

 

 

When I discuss researching and translation with people, a lot of the time they assume that my research is minimal.

They think that I simply let computer software translate the text and that I go in afterwards and fix the incorrectly translated parts and that’s the extent of my research. I’ve mentioned a few times how that approach to translation would be more time-consuming and generally less efficient than doing the translation by hand. So how does a person prepare to research a translation properly?

Executive Director joins the Board of Directors and welcomes New Leadership Team
Niagara Region, May 13, 2015 – Long-serving Executive Director for the Niagara
Entrepreneur of the Year Award program (NEYA), Lisa Cairns, has announced her
transition from a staff role to the board of directors for the prestigious event.

The donations are in! Chorus Niagara, Niagara’s premiere symphonic chorus raised $60,000.00 in one day during Singathon 2015 held in the Seaway Mall in Welland. For the ninth consecutive year Chorus Niagara presented a day-long concert featuring guest conductors from the community.

Thank you to all who donated to our "fill the truck for diabetes."  It was a huge success!

Jennifer Kapala, daughter of Pelham residents, came for a short visit last summer and took some pictures around Pelham.    Jennifer is a Professional photographer in Calgary, Alberta, but lived in Pelham for few years and knew about the Comfort Maple.  One of the pictures she took was entered in a National Association of Professional Child Photographers (NAPCP) event.   Jennifer was recently named NAPCP 2014 Photographer of the year.  As a result, NAPCP selected Jennifer's picture of Pelham's Comfort Maple to post in Times Square.
