With two weeks to go in CAA’s Worst Roads Campaign, Niagara’s road users have put Dominion Road in Fort Erie in the region’s top spot and eighth in Ontario. Last year, the thoroughfare was voted the second worst road in all of the Niagara Region. The campaign began on March 23 with voters visiting to submit their choice for the worst road in Niagara.


Nine teams of Ontario’s top culinary students ran King Cole Ducks Ltd.’s Great Amazing Duck Race, with Niagara College’s Canadian Food and Wine Institute team capturing first place.

In 1945, life in Pelham was significantly different than it is now, 65 years later. But one thing has remained true throughout those 65 years, the service of the Fonthill Lions Club.

The Fonthill Lions Club started with 24 members in 1945, receiving its charter on April 3, thanks to sponsorship from the Welland Lions Club.

Last Wednesday, Niagara Regional Chair Alan Caslin presented his first “State of the Region” address at a Chamber of Commerce luncheon in Niagara Falls.  “For far too long, we've had a sign in the window saying, ‘out for lunch, back in an hour,’” said Caslin. “We must do better. Niagara must be ‘open for business.’ Under my leadership and the leadership of my council colleagues — Niagara is open for business.”

Diagnosed in 2009 with Ulcerative Colitis at 38 years of age and just 13 months after becoming a Registered Massage Therapist and thinking my new career and life was over.

After the dreadful diagnosis I began searching the web for more info on the disease and to bond with those in the same situation. What did I find? I found some good valuable information as well as a lot of negative comments on the disease which led me to believe my new career was over and as my symptoms continued to get worse I wasn't sure of my outcome.
