Ryan is a student at Notre Dame Catholic High School and is a member of the Mayor's Youth Advisory Council (MYAC). His role on the Summerfest Committee is to communicate and relay ideas between MYAC  and the Summerfest Committee. By serving on the Committee he helps to make Summerfest an enjoyable community event for all ages by promoting ideas targeted towards our local youth population.

Tim Hortons Silver Hawks played strong as a team on Monday nights game. Kaden Issac led the team with a huge hit outfield, while Ben Colavecchia ran the bases faster than the speed of light. Together as a team the silver hawks continue to improve, and cheer each other on.  The Hawks played another great game Wednesday night. Stefano Inneo helped the team by blocking the grounders that came towards him using his shuffling technique he has been learning. While Nathan Gojmerac led the team with his amazing hits. Together the sliver Hawks are learning new techniques and how to cheer each other on.



Several members of the NPCA (Niagara Peninsula Conservation Authority) met recently on a section of the Gord Harry Trail in Wainfleet. The Gord Harry Trail is a 13 km trail running through the Township of Wainfleet and a section of Haldimand County where it is known as the Blue Heron Way Trail. It forms a section of the Trans Canada Trail. The Niagara Region Wind Corporation has requested temporary use of the trails to bury conduits in connection with two wind turbines and to allow access for servicing the sites.

On Saturday July 11th the community of Fenwick gathered together for in the words of local resident, Deborah Marie Forrester an experience of 'music, dancing and general awesomeness in beautiful Downtown Fenwick!'

International success is brewing at the Niagara College Teaching Brewery. On July 4, the NC Teaching Brewery – the first of its kind in Canada based at the College’s Niagara-on-the-Lake Campus – was announced as the winner of three medals at the 2015 United States Open Beer Championship. More than 4,000 beers and ciders from professional breweries and award-winning home brewers from more than 20 countries were entered into this year’s competition, based in Oxford, Ohio and Atlanta, Georgia.

I’ve been a member of the Welland-Pelham Chamber of Commerce for as long as I’ve been in business and I can say with absolute certainty that I wouldn’t be where I am today if it weren’t for the Chamber’s constant support and various networking opportunities.

During a Special Meeting on June 23, 2015, Council approved the architect's revised schematic design in principle (as also approved by the Architectural Design Advisory Committee), but paused further work by the architect until staff provided a high-level costing evaluation of the design and until the Architectural Design Advisory Committee (ADAC) met to review the plan again. As a result, the design drawings won’t be ready for the public to comment on during Summerfest, as reported in the June 15, 2015 Council Meeting Highlights. 


On Saturday, July 18th, the all-day street party includes an Active Zone on Pelham Street in Downtown Fonthill from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The loveliest thing happened. I went into Duffin's Appleworks on Rice Road near Hwy. 20 in Fonthill. I got there moments before closing time at 6pm. I was thrilled to find they had two cherries pies left, because I wanted to take one with me to friends for dinner tonight. Then I realized that I didn't have any cash, and they don't take debit.

Mokus restaurant in Fonthill showed their community support and raised $600 towards the Faith Fundraiser. On April 3, 2015 Faith Flagg  was struck by a hit and run driver while walking with friends along Canboro Rd. between Church Hill and Haist St. in Fonthill.

In April I provided you with a timeline for the design and possible construction of a new Multi-Faceted Community Centre in the East Fonthill area. Council recently paused that process to get more information.

The Miller Restoration Mosquito Rep team took to the road this weekend for a tournament in Mitchell, Ontario.  The team played stellar baseball, winning all three of their qualifying games to place first in their division and earn a seat in the semi-finals on Sunday morning.
