If a taxpayer has over-contributed by more than $2,000 above their RRSP limit in a given month the CRA can assess a penalty equal to 1% multiplied by the over-contribution amount for each month until the over-contribution is taken care of.

Over the last number of years, Pelham Council has diligently scrutinized and prepared for a potential Community Centre. Committee of the Whole recommended approving the site plan for the commercial plaza development in East Fonthill. Located on the south side of Highway 20 East (Regional Road 20) west of Rice Road, the 80,000 square foot commercial plaza will include retail, restaurant and office space. Confirmed tenants include a Food Basics, Dollarama, Pita Pit, Sunset Grill, Great Clips and Tim Horton’s. Construction is scheduled to begin in April with store openings planned for November.

For a third year in a row, the Town of Pelham froze water and wastewater rates for residents. The Town’s careful management of the water system (including meter replacements, infrastructure upgrades and continued system audits) helps offset the Region’s 3.2% water and 1.8% wastewater rate increases.
