This Week in Baseball: T-Ball AllStar Game & Friday Night Lights

The weekly "This Week In Baseball" articles overview the activities of various Pelham Minor Baseball Association teams.  Teams span from T-Ball to Midget age with several rep teams representing Pelham across the region.  Please watch for some familiar names throughout the season!

In big league fashion, the best of the best were selected from the 8 Tim Hortons t-ball teams for the annual T-Ball AllStar game this past Saturday, July 29th. The youngsters took the field to their own walk up music and impressed the crowd of fans with many hits and great plays. After the game the players had an opportunity to try their skills against the pitching machine. A great morning was had by all!

Group 92 Mechanical Rookie Rep hosted the first Friday Night Lights Game against West Niagara Nationals at Centennial Park in Fenwick. A special thank you to the Fenwick Lions Club for putting on the BBQ and supporting local sports teams. The evening started with food, music, warm-ups and singing the national anthem before the first pitch. Each player had their name announced with walk up music, just like the pros. Beaming smiles all around the field showed that every player was having a great time on this special night. It was a close game with great defensive plays, including a diving catch in the outfield by Max Stevenson to take away a hit. Clutch hitting by the Panthers offense secured the 14-8 win for Pelham. The cheers from the crowd could be heard throughout the town and all enjoyed a great Friday night of ball. Extra special thanks to umpires Jacob and Ben who put in overtime to officiate the game. The Panthers will complete regular season play in the next two weeks and then set their sights on performing well in the Niagara District Baseball playoffs.
