Walk! Every Step Counts!
We all know that walking is a great form of exercise to improve overall fitness. This is especially true for individuals who have been diagnosed with a neurological disorder such as a stroke, MS, cerebral palsy or a brain injury. However, if you find walking difficult this may seem like an impossible goal.
As walking is a complex motor activity it can be difficult to know how to improve your walking. If you have been diagnosed with a neurological disorder it is very helpful to have your flexibility, muscle strength and leg alignment assessed by a physiotherapist in combination with video analysis of your walking. With this information walking difficulties can be identified and remedial action taken. Understanding why walking is difficult for you is the first step to better walking and a better quality of life.
