Each year on the Sunday prior to Remembrance Day November 11th Remembrance ceremonies are observed at all three ot Pelham's cenotaphs.
This year services were held starting at 8:00 a.m. on Sunday November 4th at the Fenwick cenotaph in Centennial Park; 9:00 a.m. at the Old Pelham Town Hall cenotaph on Canboro Road and 12:30 p.m Peace Park cenotaph in Fonthill; afterwards the public were welcomed back to the Fonthill Legion for a light lunch.

Wreaths of remembrance poppies are laid by representatives of a wide cross section of community organizations on the memorials and two minutes' silence is are held at each location during a ceremony of remembrance.
As part of Remembrance Sunday an ecumenical observance is held at one of our local churches each year which includes remembrance themed contemplation and prayers for peace among the nations of the world. This year Holy Trinity Anglican Church hosted this special service at 10:30 am.
The Remembrance service begins at approximately 10:45 am in Veterans Park in front of the Legion. Afterwards the public is invited to come into the Legion for a light lunch.
In recognition of the 100th anniversary of the end of World War 1, the Royal Canadian Legion, in partnership with the government of Canada, has initiated "The Bells of Peace Initiative." At sunset, projected to be at 4:57 p.m. in Pelham, church bells will ring throughout the Town 100 times. From our records, 17 citizens of what was known as "Pelham Township" were either killed or died in service and another 140 citizens either served overseas or in Canada during this four year conflict. As such, the celebratory bells take on additional meaning for the decedents of these brave individuals who defended our nation. We are asking the citizens of Pelham to take a moment to reflect and pay homage to the men and women who served our nation and continue to serve our nation during this time.
