Local restaurants rally for community change
United Way South Niagara has launched a new fundraising initiative, Crave-A-Licious: Craving for Caring. The initiative unites local restaurants to generate funds for community programs and services, and it’s bringing value to local restaurant patrons during the entire month of March.
“The purpose of this initiative is really to create a win-win situation for local businesses and our community,” says Tamara Coleman-Lawrie, executive director at United Way South Niagara. “Local businesses are preparing great food and promotions for their loyal customers. The whole community is benefiting because United Way funds programs and services that help one in three people in south Niagara.”
For its inaugural year, Crave-A-Licious: Craving for Caring has seven supporting restaurants: Don Marco’s on Wellington St. in Welland; Lazy Loon on Hwy. 20 in Fonthill; Mossimo’s Pizza and Subs on Hwy 20 in Fonthill; M.T. Bellies on Niagara Street in Welland; Sparrow Lakes on Pelham Rd. in Welland; Thai Dish on East Main St. in Welland; and Ye Olde Squire located on Niagara St. in Welland.
“United Way is thrilled to have enthusiastic participation from local restaurateurs,” she said. “It’s quite amazing how dedicated they are to help the community.”
Each restaurant will have features and value-packed promotions during the month of March to satisfy everyone’s craving for caring.
