As we enter our 35th year of serving the community of Pelham, we would like to express our gratitude to this generous community!  Throughout the year, and especially during  the Holiday Season, the donations of food, personal care items, household products, toys, and money, grants, contributions of many volunteers, and the support of local media, allow us to continue to assist families in our community.

Once again the bar has been raised with this year’s University of Guelph Good Food Innovation Awards.  The calibre of the 2017 menus was absolutely outstanding!  The depth and breath of our chefs’ commitment to the producers of Canada was the finest ever.  (We DID trend at #1 on Twitter across the nation!)  What pleases us so much is how many new Gold Award winners there are this year, men and women who can stand on any culinary stage in the world.

Formally known as the Pelham Mudfest Challenge, the same great down and dirty challenge for 2018 has rebranded to Niagara Mudfest Challenge. Still located in the heart of Pelham at Bissell’s Hideaway, the Niagara Mudfest Challenge this year takes place Saturday, May 5. The mud run is open once again to both children and adults. The children’s course is smaller in length and obstacles, for those ages 6 to 12, while the adult course is open to anyone 13 or older, and is about 6km in length, with various muddy obstacles to climb over, slide down, crawl through or under.

We all care about adding more nutrition into our diet. While the idea of adding a nutritional boost to our food is appealing, we don’t want to sacrifice flavour and those delicious meals that the entire family loves. With help from registered dietitian Kristy Hogger, we’ve given six classic recipes a nutritional makeover by swapping out the traditional ingredients with better-for-you alternatives. The result is recipes that you can feel good about serving!

When viewing a home for sale, many buyers look at the property from a “macro” perspective. They ask themselves questions like: “Is it large enough?”; “Are there enough bedrooms?”; “Is it in a nice neighbourhood?” While those questions are important, it also pays to consider a potential new home from a “micro” perspective.

Here are some things to consider:

Where There’s a NEED, There’s a LION

So, what exactly is balayage and why do we love it so much? Balayage has been around for a while, but this timeless technique is creeping its way back into being one of the most popular hair colour requests in salons today.

Participating in a CSA is an excellent way of becoming part of a community that shares your concern about healthy eating. It is a way of knowing where your food comes from and enjoying a healthier, more connected lifestyle.

Happy New Year Pelham! Council, Staff and I look forward to 2018 as a year of social, cultural, recreational, and economic growth in the Town – moving us closer to being the most vibrant, innovative and caring community in Niagara. Last year saw growth, prosperity, and many milestones to improving our community. Because the community has been underserviced commercially for so long, many were pleased with the opening of the commercial developments along Regional Road 20 in Fonthill in 2017.

Not all investments are created equal. Some are better suited for short-term goals, while others can help you build resources for objectives far in the future. As an investor, then, one of your biggest challenges will be to match your short- and long-term goals with the appropriate investment vehicles. How should you proceed?
