27th Annual Pelham Community Food Drive

As the season of giving quickly approaches, planning for the 27th annual Pelham Community Food Drive is well underway.  Pelham Cares, with community partners Fonthill and District Kinsmen Club, Fonthill Lions Club and Fenwick Lions Club, will carry on this tradition.

One of the Christmas in Pelham weekend events, the food drive will take place on Saturday, December 2nd.  Residents in the urban areas of Pelham are asked to place non-perishable food on their porch, by 9:00 a.m.. Volunteers will fan out from both the Fenwick and Fonthill Lions halls, starting at approximately 9:00 a.m., and pick food up going door to door. If residents wish to make a monetary donation which will go to Pelham Cares, organizers ask that cash or cheques made payable to Pelham Cares be placed in a sealed envelope and given to the volunteer, or they can be mailed or delivered directly to Pelham Cares.

For those living in the rural areas of Pelham, or those residents unable to donate the day of the drive, food can be dropped off on or after December 2nd at the following locations: Century 21 Today Realty, Clare's Cycle and Sports, Meridian Credit Union, North Pelham Avondale, Star Tile Centre, Pelham Cares office, and Rice Road Greenhouses, or either Lions’ Hall on the Saturday a.m. only.

Anyone wishing to volunteer with the door to door collection of food, or sorting, boxing and transporting food at Rice Road Greenhouses, are asked to register by contacting Pelham Cares by phone 905-892-5300 or email info@pelhamcares.org.  For more information, contact Lori Grande, Coordinator, Client Services at this number.
