The Kinsmen Club of Fonthill and District held their 17th annual Citizen of the Year celebration tonight at the old Pelham Town Hall. This year's recipients were the husband and wife team of Rosemary and Gary Chambers who are well known in Pelham for their efforts to keep Pelham's heritage alive .Kin Brian Iggulden was the Master of Ceremonies introducing dignitaries at the head table and welcoming close to 100 people in attendance, a tribute in itself to the support for Gary and Rosemary Chambers. A moment of silence was held in memory of a former Citizen of the Year, Fred Disher, who sadly passed away earlier this year. Many former Citizens of the year were acknowledged.

Presentations were made by Dean Allison MP Niagara West Glanbrook, Sarah Whitaker (representing Tim Hudak) MPP  Niagara West Glanbrook and Mayor of Pelham, Dave Augustyn. Both Gary and Rosemary spoke thanking everyone for coming and the Kinsmen for the honour given to them. they urged all to volunteer saying it was an effective way to give back to their community.
